It is our pleasure to bring you the 2023 edition of the Little Miami River Chamber Alliance Membership Directory and Business Resource Guide. It isn’t your imagination that we now offer the directory annually. With the tremendous growth that’s happened in our service areas, we felt that an annual guide would keep everyone informed on all that is offered in our area. We continue to enjoy our partnership with Cincinnati Magazine and look forward to providing you this first-class publication as an incredible resource.

The Little Miami River Chamber Alliance serves businesses and the community in the City of Loveland, Symmes Township, and Miami Township. We enjoy working with surrounding communities as they grow and prosper as well. It is our goal to invite residents to live, learn, and play in our communities. With all of these areas thriving and growing, we offer something for everyone to enjoy and experience!

Some exciting new highlights to look for are improved parks—including landscaping, play equipment, and hard scaping—as well as streetscaping along the Loveland-Madeira Corridor and a Bicentennial celebration in Symmes Township.

As the leading advocate for the area’s business community, the Little Miami River Chamber Alliance leads the way for incoming businesses and current businesses as they navigate government and growth. The chamber provides trainings, community events, and business events to provide comprehensive leadership for all businesses.

Our favorite way of communicating is still in person to connect and understand business members, which is our signature trademark as a chamber!

New development has begun to pace itself, with developers getting creative in gaining new space. Our area looks forward to a refreshed look combined with the charm we’re known for.

Loveland

Residential Development

Loveland resident count increased in 2022 due to the addition of a new subdivision and 25 condominiums just outside of the downtown area. The city welcomed Homearama 2022 at the new Chimney Ridge development. Property valuations continue to rise across the city.

Community Improvement Corporation funds allowed the city the opportunity to assist homeowners in the Heights neighborhood with specific home improvements and rehabilitation projects.

Commercial

A large project off of Loveland-Madeira Road and Main Street, known as the Chestnut Street Property, is developing with potential for commercial space. The Shoppers Haven complex on Loveland-Madeira Road has undergone interior renovations with exterior upgrades scheduled for 2023. Downtown visitors can now enjoy complimentary internet thanks to the city’s free Wi-Fi program with altafiber.

Infrastructure

A green public works building was built as the new home for the city’s Public Works employees and equipment. It’s the first city-owned facility to feature solar panels.

A new turn lane from State Route 48 onto West Loveland will begin to ease traffic in the area and will be implemented along with widening Harrison Road downtown. East Loveland Avenue will have significant infrastructure work and a bridge replacement. The bridge into the downtown area will see both structure and cosmetic upgrades in the late fall. A parking facility is being considered to invite more guests into the downtown area; it would include a new access point into downtown as well.

Thanks to grants awarded to the city, many parks have new playground equipment and upgraded landscaping. Most notable have been improvements to Nisbet Park, the first being a 24-ft. diameter gazebo, which will be a great place for bands, weddings, and small gatherings. Park plans include adding a walking loop, river access, a sculpture, and updated amphitheater.

The $1.2-million investment plan for road rehabilitation will continue from 2022 throughout the city. Loveland-Madeira Road remains a focus to improve lighting, walkability, and streetscaping.

Symmes Township

Residential Development

Symmes offers residents an excellent school system and zero earnings tax. The suburban setting with businesses conveniently located nearby makes it ideal for all families. Residents enjoy community events throughout the year in more than 197 acres of sprawling park space. Outstanding police and fire services and a thriving business community make the area attractive for all.

Infrastructure

Road paving and curb replacement projects continue to be a priority, along with storm water line replacement and

township equipment replacement. Park improvements include updated security, restroom upgrades, field and furniture replacements, updated rental locations, and playground and trail updates.

Business

More than 15 new businesses now call Symmes Township home. Exciting new restaurants, health and wellness businesses, spas, and boutiques are just a few of the businesses that opened in the past year.

Miami Township

Residential Development

At 33 square miles, Miami Township is the 13th largest township in Ohio and is home to 30,000-plus jobs. New homes in the $350,000–$800,000 price range are currently under construction in six subdivisions. Fischer Homes is constructing 275 new condominiums and developing the surrounding area.

Infrastructure

Improvements to roads, sidewalks, and stabilization are scheduled during 2023. Six pickle ball courts and new paved paths have been added at Miami Meadows Park. The tennis and basketball courts at Miami Riverview Park have been repaved, and the deck at The Leming House has been replaced.

Business

Five of the largest privately owned businesses in the region are in Miami Township. New restaurants recently or soon to be opened include El Taco Velos, Jimmy Johns, and Dickey’s BBQ, with several more planned in the future. Cold Jet has relocated and will add dozens of high-paying jobs in the county. Additional medical and retail development is in the pipeline for construction this year.

We ensure that each child, 18 months to 18 years, will be known, nurtured, and inspired. Few schools are better equipped to connect students both academically and personally. Whether in the classroom or on our 60-acre campus, we are designed to help cultivate a passion for learning, independent thinking, and self-discovery that guides students to be scholars, athletes, artists, innovators, and leaders.

Loveland

Best known for its name, Loveland is a northeast suburb of Cincinnati tucked into the corners of three counties. (Fun fact: You can send a Valentine featuring Loveland’s iconic postmark. Simply send a pre-posted card inside a mailer addressed to The Valentine Lady at the Little Miami River Chamber Alliance.) Loveland is a growing community, with strong schools, a thriving business environment, and extraordinary outdoor recreation. The Little Miami River runs right through town, as does the Little Miami Scenic Bike Trail.

Miami Township

Miami Township boasts both new development and historic beauty and is a wonderful place to work and play. You’ll find small businesses booming inside century-old shops and storefronts, lots of local spots to shop and dine, and a park system second to none. The area is outlined by the Little Miami River, which provides endless opportunities for outdoor recreation.

Symmes Township

Symmes Township is a true hidden gem. You’ll find established neighborhoods boasting big trees and sprawling backyards just a stone’s throw away from next-level shopping, dining, and amenities. For families, Symmes Township is pure gold, boasting three of Ohio’s top-rated public school districts as well as a real-life castle!

In terms of entertainment and recreation, this area has it all... and then some. The best-known outdoor attraction is the Little Miami Scenic Bike Trail, which runs 75 miles from Springfield, Ohio, to Newtown and attracts 800,000 annual visitors. The offshoot running through Loveland, the Loveland Bike Trail, is scheduled to be closed for a few months in the fall so the

Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) can replace the pedestrian bridge over O’Bannon Creek. The bridge is just northeast of Nisbet Park, which serves as a community gathering space in downtown Loveland, complete with shaded picnic areas, a playground, renovated restroom facilities, access to the Little Miami River, a gazebo for small events, an amphitheater with seating for

larger events, and parking.

Businesses along the Loveland Bike Trail will remain open during bridge construction, making your support and patronage in Downtown Loveland more important than ever. (See recommendations for dining, shopping, and health-oriented businesses starting on page 18.)

Patrons of the arts will appreciate Loveland Stage Company, which has been entertaining audiences with popular musicals and shows since 1980. History buffs, meanwhile, can learn about all things Loveland at the Greater Loveland Historical Society Museum, which features an impeccably decorated Victorian house complete with 19th-Century furniture, décor, and artifacts.

Of course, no place is more magical in the area than Château Laroche, the authentic, full-scale castle built brick by brick by Cincinnati native Harry Andrews. He began construction in 1929 and spent the next 50 years working on his masterpiece, using stones from the Little Miami River and hand-molded bricks made of cement and quart milk cartons. The castle includes gardens, several towers, an actual dungeon, and rooms full of medieval replicas and memorabilia. It’s the must-visit attraction in the area.

In fact, if you want to take your castle visit to the next level, check out the “Castle Adventure” tour via Loveland Canoe & Kayak, which cruises right by the property. Get a taste of the trail life any time with Loveland Bike Rental, conveniently located right on the bike trail. You can choose from hybrids, single-speed cruisers, child trailers, tandems, recumbents, and road bikes.

And team sports enthusiasts will love Grand Sands Volleyball, a seven-court,

year-round indoor/outdoor beach volleyball facility. Brush up on your serve during open court hours or join one of the club’s seasonal competitive leagues.

You can feel the burn by working out at D1 Training Cincy North in Loveland and RockBox Fitness in Symmes Township, and literally melt away some pounds with hot sauna yoga and interval training at Hotworx. Or put your entire being to work at Activate Brain & Body in Symmes, a first-of-its-kind anti-aging training facility for both mind and body.

You’ll find classes and activities for adults of all ages at the Lifelong Learning Center at the Miami Township Civic Center, from arts and crafts to wellness programs and computer classes.

Meanwhile, the Oasis Golf Club & Conference Center is a favorite destination for weddings and meetings. The members-only golf club features an 18-hole course designed by Arnold Palmer. The O’Bannon Creek Golf Club is set amid the natural beauty of woods, streams, lakes, and rolling hills, remains a popular course for golfers of all skill levels.

For local business owners and residents, the State of the Region Update kicks off the New Year with city and township updates. And during the year, a number of annual events have become family traditions. The Valentine Program adds a heartwarming note to snow-filled February, celebrating Loveland’s claim to fame as the “Sweetheart Capital of the U.S.” with the crowning of the Valentine Lady. Summer traditions include the Food Truck Rally, Loveland Fourth of July and Oktoberfest events. And Christmas in Loveland is an exuberant celebration of the holidays, complete with a visit from The Man in Red himself.

Private Schools and Learning Centers

Children’s Academy of Loveland

The local- and family-owned childcare center, along with a second location in Mason, provides top-quality care for the comfort of children and parents through a fun and engaged team effort. All meals and extracurricular activities are incorporated into tuition.

Children’s Meeting House

This Montessori school serves preschool through grade 6. The Montessori philosophy stresses independent thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, and collaboration.

Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy

The private, college-prep, non-denominational academy offers preschool through grade 12. The school boasts low student-to-teacher ratios, a rigorous academic program, and a faithbased approach, all aimed to help each student develop his or her unique gifts and talents.

Mathnasium

This supplemental math program helps elementary, middle, and high school students succeed in math. After a thorough assessment of each child’s understanding of math, a customized learning plan is developed. Instructors monitor the student’s work and progress on-site.

Ohio Valley Voices

Ohio Valley Voices works with children up to age 8 who have hearing loss to listen and talk through the use of hearing aids or cochlear implants. Activities take place in an environment that makes each student feel as comfortable as possible. OVV believes that becoming confident talkers and developing interpersonal skills are the keys to realizing each person’s potential.

Springs East Montessori School

This Montessori school serves students from preschool through grade 3. Billed as “close-to-homeschooling at a school that’s close to home,” students are encouraged to become independent thinkers while developing

life skills. The Montessori curriculum accommodates the needs of each individual student, from physical and emotional to social and intellectual.

St. Columban

This parish school in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati serves students in pre-K through grade 8. Faith, family, and future underscore the teaching and learning philosophy at St. Columban, which boasts a challenging curriculum and range of extracurriculars.

St. Margaret of York

A parish school in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, St. Margaret of York serves students from kindergarten through grade 8. Students receive a robust, faith-based education designed to build a strong foundation for high school and beyond.

Public Schools

Loveland City School District

The progressive, vibrant public school district exemplifies a dedicated approach to the complete student experience: excellent academics, exceptional arts, and premier athletics. The district covers more than 15 miles, overlaps three counties (Hamilton, Clermont, and Warren), and includes the City of Loveland as well as reaching into Symmes, Goshen, Hamilton, and Miami townships. Current enrollment is approximately 4,300.

Sycamore Community Schools

Sycamore Community Schools serves more than 5,500 students in the communities of Blue Ash, Montgomery, and Sycamore Township. Consistently rated as one of Ohio’s top-performing public school districts, Sycamore High School graduated 18 National Merit Scholars in 2022. Symmes Celebrates 200 Years

A portrait of small-town values and Midwestern sensibility, Symmes Township was founded in 1824 and named for John Cleves Symmes, who made the “Miami Purchase” in 1788 that led to the founding of Cincinnati. The community turns 200 years old in 2024 and will be celebrating the milestone in a big way, says Luanne Felter, Assistant to the Administrator of Symmes Township. “We want to celebrate our rich history with the community. We will be planning small activities throughout 2024 leading to a big community festival with live music and fireworks.”
